In ANIONTEΣ you will find twenty artworks by Dr Ouresis Todorovich, exhibited from 21/4/2025 until 27/4/2025 at Stirrup Gallery, Marrickville NSW, as part of the cultural program of the 43rd Greek Festival of Sydney. The theme of this solo exhibition pertains to the spiritual quest of Nikos Kazantzakis, a quest that Dr Todorovich – Associate Professor at the University of Macau and accomplished painter, iconographer and sculptor – has succeeded in capturing thanks to a range of styles, techniques and media he utilises from ancient, Byzantine and modernist traditions.
This versatile visual exploration of Kazantzakis’ vision is accompanied with a critical/reHective commentary by Dr Vassilios Adrahtas, who brings forward the philosophical, theological and broader religious/hierophanic underpinnings of Todorovich's creative artwork. ANIONTEΣ brings along a new and in many respects fresh way to look at the bold, controversial and challenging oeuvre of Kazantzakis – a truly visual way of appreciating a legend of modern Greek letters.
